Trading Games

There are two trading games in Zelda. As a child, the mask trading game gets you the Mask of Truth. This item is useless, but fun to mess with. As an adult, there is an item trading game. You will get the Biggoron’s sword, and extremely useful, 4x damage, five-foot long sword that sends enemies packing. AND IT WON’T EVER BREAK! This section provides the best methods on getting these items.

The Mask of Truth Trading Game

There is a mask shop in Hyrule Market. The trading game works like this, you get a mask, then wear it while talking to someone who might buy it. They give you money for it, and then you have to go pay for the mask in order to receive the next one.

Although you don’t have to, here are some things you should do before trying this game.

  1. Get thirty gold skulltulas. Then, get the giant’s wallet from the skulltulla house. When you trade the bunny hood, you’ll get a full wallet.
  2. Try this after you beat the Forest Temple as an adult and get the Prelude of Light. That way, as a child, you can just warp back instead of running.

  1. The Keaton Mask- This mask goes to the guard standing at the base of Death Mountain. He’ll give you fifteen rupees for this ten-rupee mask, giving you a five-rupee profit.
  2. The Skull Mask- Go left at the entrance to the Lost Woods. If you haven’t already done so, stand on the stump and face the skull kid, then play Saria’s Song. If you have already done that, then precede to giving the mask to him. He gives you ten- rupees for this twenty-rupee mask. You lose ten rupees in this deal.
  3. The Spooky Mask- This should be obvious. Give it to the stupid little trampling around in the Kakariko Graveyard. He’ll pay full price for this thirty-rupee mask. No losses or earnings here.
  4. The Bunny Hood- There is a guy running around on Hyrule Field. You’ll usually find him around Lon Lon Ranch. When you give him the mask, make sure to get out of his way, or he’ll trample you and do some damage. He fills your wallet on this deal, so you can make either 49, 150, or 450 profit, depending on which wallet you have.

From this point on, all masks are available for your use. You can also use the Goron, Gerudo, or Zora mask at this point. The biggest prize however, it the Mask of Truth. This allows you to do some more funny things to the Gossip Stones.

How the Gossip stones react to items.

As a child or adult-

  1. Hit it with your sword and they’ll tell you the time.

As a child without the Mask of Truth-

  1. They shake when you hit them with a boomerang or slingshot.

As a child with the Mask of Truth-

  1. They tell something if you talk to them.
  2. They launch off into the sky if you hold a bomb near them.

As an adult-

  1. Hit it with the megaton hammer and you’ll smash it into the ground.
  2. Use your bow or hook/longshot on them and they shake.

Biggoron’s Sword Trading Game

Some of these trades are timed, so do this exactly as I say if you don’t want to risk starting over. This is the best method to do this.

Before starting:

  1. Open the warp gate in the Lost Woods that leads to Goron City. You can’t use warp songs on timed trades, but you can use this gate. With this opened, you won’t have any problem with the last step.
  2. Either the Longshot or Epona. The Longshot isn’t really needed, but it’s a good thing to have Epona. If you can’t get Epona, you must have the Longshot.
  3. OPTIONAL: Have the sun song.

  1. The Pocket Egg- The cucco lady will give this to you. When it hatches, go to the house near the ramp at the front part of Kakariko. Talon is in there, so use the hatched cucco to wake him up. Return the cucco to the cucco lady. She gives you…
  2. Cojiro the Blue Cucco- Take this to the Lost Woods. In the area where you traded the skull mask as a kid, there is a weird looking guy near the big stump. Give him Cojiro. He gives you…
  3. Weird Mushroom- This is timed 3:00). Go to Kakariko. From the entrance go to the potion shop, rush around the counter around the backway. 4. Odd Medicine- Take this back to the Lost Woods. The guy is gone, but a little girl is there. Give here the medicine and she give you the…
  5. Poacher’s Saw- At Gerudo Valley, you can use the longshot to get across the broken bridge. However, this can be done before getting the Longshot from the Water Temple. In fact, this can be done before the Forest Temple. If you have Epona, you can actually jump over the broken bridge. This is why it good to have Epona. Give Boss Carpenter the poacher’ saw and he gives you…
  6. Broken Goron Sword- Give this to Biggoron at the top of Death Mountain. He gives you…
  7. Prescription- Give this to King Zora. He gives you…
  8. Eyeball Frog- This is timed (3:00). Rush out of Zora’s Domain, and as soon as you get to Zora’s River, jump into the water, and swim with the currents out of Zora’s River on the LEFT side. Take this to the scientist at Lake Hylia and he gives you…
  9. Eyedrops- This is timed (4:00). Instead of going to Death Mountain, go to the Lost Woods and head through the warp gate to Goron City. Upon arrival, jump to the bottom floor and go through the back entrance to Death Mountain Crater in Darania’s Room. Head around the right to the exit at the top of Death Mountain straight to Biggoron with OVER A MINUTE TO SPARE!!! Give him the eyedrops and he gives you the…
  10. Claim Check- If you have the Sun Song, use it to speed through time for three or four days. If you don’t have it, you may as well get it while your waiting. When you return after that time with the claim check, he give you the…
  11. Biggoron’s Sword- Congrats! If you made it this far, you have the coolest sword in the game.
