Bosses

There are 10 bosses in this game. 8 of those ten will provide the exit from the dungeon you are in and a full heart container when you kill them. The bosses in the game are different from bosses in most other game in the way that day are difficult: figuring out how to beat the boss is hard, actually performing that task is a piece of cake. This section provides the best method to defeat them. Also this section will talk about what I call the antechamer of each boss. This is the room(s) containing the boss door and the puzzles that go with them. The child bosses do not require a boss key, however the adult levels will. Not all dungeons have bosses, but all the bosses are in a dungeon.

The below sections are divided into boss names, introduction, items to equip when fighting the boss, how to draw the boss out, and how to fight the boss.

The following three bosses are fought as a child.

Parasitic Armored Arachnid: Gohma

This boss resides in the Great Deku Tree. The antechamber is a room that has water on one end, and three deku shrubs in it. Reflect the middle ones nut back at him to stun him, then the one on the right. Make sure not to attack them. Then, reflect a nut towards the last one and chase him until he talks. This will allow you to go through the door in this room to Gohma.

Items to equip: Fairy Slingshot and Sword

Meeting Gohma: When you enter the room, take notice that there are four pillars and some grass around the edges of the room. If you ever run out of deku seeds, cut some grass and sometimes they will give you some. Gohma is nowhere to be seen. Us Up-C to look at the ceiling in the center. She’s up there. When you look into her eye, she’ll come down.

Fighting Gohma:

  1. Z-target her eye and have your slingshot handy. When her eye turns red, shoot it with your slingshot. She’ll be momentarily stunned. Rush in with your sword and stab it as many time as you can. When she gets up, get out of her way or she’ll trample you.
  2. She will climb up to the center ceiling and, for lack of a better word, excrete some larvae. There are to things you can do with the larvae:
  1. Rush in immediately and kill them with one swing of the sword.
  2. Have your sword ready and wait for the larvae to hatch. They’ll come over to you and gear up to attack. When they do, just keep slicing in place and they’ll jump into your sword. Two attacks on each and there dead.
  1. At this point, Gohma will jump back down and attack again. Just repeat steps 1 and 2 a few times and she’ll will be dead.

Infernal Dinosaur: King Dodongo

This big lizard is in Dodongo’s Cavern. The antechamber is pretty simple. It’s a little circle of rooms. Run around and get to an area with to pushable blocks, one on a ground and one on a ledge. Climb onto the ledge and then onto the block on the ledge. From there, climb to the highest ledge and run across it and jump down at the other side. Run through the tunnel you arrive at and push the block at the end on to the floor of the room where you started. Push it in to the hole into the center of the room and the boss door opens.

Items to equip: Bomb Bag and Sword

Meeting King Dodongo: Go through the boss door and you’ll see a chest. It contains bombs, so grab them and set one on the area in the center of the room to reveal a hole. Jump down and meet King Dodongo. This room is a square area with a big lava pit in the center. The inner edges of the stable ground surrounding the lavapit can be stood on to avoid King Dodongo when he rolls. Stand on the edge and take notice of the room.

Fighting King Dodongo:

  1. King Dodongo rolls around the room. Stand on the edge to avoid his rolling, and when he pass, run in the opposite direction he was rolling in. Go around and meet up with him. If he starts rolling again, get on the edge. If he’s just plodding around go right up to him and Z-Target. He’ll draw back instead of trampling you, so when he opens his big mouth toss a bomb in before he breath fire on you.
  2. If you managed to shove a bomb down his throat, draw back far enough to draw you sword without hitting him, then get up close and do a jump attack. Get out of the way immediately. Let go of Z-Targeting.
  3. Repeat steps 1 and 2. If you do a jump attack each time, he’ll be dead after three times. Otherwise, it will take longer.

Bio-Electric Anemone: Barinade

This guy is in Jabu Jabu’s massive belly. The antechamber is a room with many of those jellyfish floating around, and a wall in the center with ivy to climb up on one side. Make sure to nab the gold skulltulla on the ivy, then climb to the top. At the top, there is a skulltulla web blocking the little lymph node switch. Z-Target it and move back to the middle left side of the ledge so that you can get a clear shot with your boomerang. If you can’t hit it, let go of Z-Targeting and just throw the boomerang around the left side and you should hit it eventually. When you hit it, drop down to the boss door that it opens at the bottom.

Items to equip: Boomerang and Sword

Meeting Barinade: Not much to it really. Just walk in and there it is. The room containes a few pots, but you shouldn’t need them and there pretty much a waste of time, so don’t bother with them unless you really need a recovery heart.

Fighting Barinade:

  1. Possibly to most aggravating boss in the game. Start of by Z-Targeting the tentacle attaching him to the ceiling and taking the out with your boomerang. Keep moving while you do this to avoid getting hit by his electric shocks.
  2. When he start moving around either get out of the way and wait for him to stop or see if you can get a lucky shot in with your boomerang to stun him.
  3. When he stops, Z-Target the jellyfish and take them out with the boomerang. Throw the boomerang his way every few seconds to stun him and give you more time to take out the jellyfish. If he starts moving before you can take out all the jellyfish, just repeat step two.
  4. When you take out all the jellyfish, he brings up another row. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until that row is gone.
  5. When all the jellyfish are gone, stun him. He’ll sink down, and that your cue to rush in and swing madly with that sword, when he starts moving, get back and stun him again. Keep doing this and he’ll die eventually.

The remainder of the bosses are fought as an adult.

Spirit from Beyond: Phantom Ganon

This is the boss of the Forest Temple. The antechamber is a room with two walls sticking out. Pushing those walls will move the room and the doors. Start out by pusin in counterclockwise, and when you get everything you can from the door, repeat. When you push it back to it’s original position, you should beable to get to the boss door.

Items to equip: Fairy Bow and Sword

Meeting Phantomm Ganon: The room you fight him in has a bunch of identical paintings all around the wall. Go across the room to the area opposite to the entrance to the room, then turn around and walk back towards the entrance. The entrance will become locked and Phantom Ganon will appear.

Fighting Phantom Ganon:

  1. Stand in the center of the room and have your bow ready and an arrow drawn. Phantom Ganon will come rushing down towards you out of two of the paintings. One is real, and the other is fake. The real Phantom Ganon is slightly brighter and closer than the fake one. Have your arrow aimed at him, and if he leaps out of the painting, you know you have the right one, otherwise, get out of the way. If you have the real, wait until he turns white and shoot him with and arrow to send him packings.
  2. Repeat step one. When you hit three times, he’ll come out and float around.
  3. Stay moderately close and keep him Z-Targeted. When he shoots and electric bolt at you, swing wildly with your sword to reflect it back to him. If you’re to far, he has more chances to reflect it. If you’re to close, you’ll have less chances to reflect it, so vary your distance.
  4. When you hit him with his own bolt, he’ll fall. Rush in and hack away with your blade.
  5. He’ll float back up, so repeat steps 3 and 4 until he’s dead.

Subterranean Lava Dragon: Volvagia

This guy is in the Fire Temple. The antechamber is a room with lava all over the floor and a pit in the center of the room. The room is arranged in a near symetrical way and there is a big pillar in the ceiling. The boss door is on the otherside but you can’t reach it. In order to get there, you need to the area where the top of pillar in the ceiling is. Smash down the pillar with the Megaton Hammer and it will fall into the pit. Now you can make it across to the boss door.

Items to equip: Megaton Hammer

Meeting Volvagia: Jump across to the center area and Volvagia will come out. There are nine holes in the ground. Those are the holes that he will hide in.

Fighting Volvagia:

  1. When he first comes out, you’ll see the hole he comes out of rumbling before he does. Later on, several holes will rumble before he comes out. When comes out, he does on of several things:
  1. Comes out halfway. If he does this, Z-Target him and hit him with the hammer when you get the chance. He’ll then fall flat and you can whack his brains all over the place. You can even do a jump attack with the hammer. After that, he’ll go back into the hole.
  2. He’ll come out and chase you around, spitting fire while he’s at it. Run around the edges and be careful not to run into him, and you should be safe. Just don’t run off the edges and watch out for the strange camera view here.
  3. He’ll fly out and rocks will start pouring down. Just run around the edges and you should be safe.
  1. Once you performed 1A enough times, he’ll die.

Giant Aquatic Amoeba: Morpha

Definitely the wierdest boss in the game. This thing is in the Water Temple. The antechamber is the center room. After you get the Longshot and the boss key, raise the water to the top and longshot over to the target on the stone dragon. Go to the door behind it, and make sure you catch or use the fairy in the pot on the right. In the room behind the door, there are three spike sliders and a very slippery floor. If you time it right, you should be able to get up the right side. At the top is the boss door. Go through.

Items to equip: Longshot and Sword

Meeting Morpha: The room is square, has spikes along the outer walls, pour platforms in the pool at the center of the room. Jump on a platform to draw Morpha out, then get back to the edge. You’ll be fighting from the edge the whole time.

Fighting Morpha:

  1. If you have the Giant’s Knife, I suggest using that until it breaks, then switch to the Master Sword. If you went to the trouble of getting Biggoron’s Sword after you got the longshot, then go ahead use that.
  2. Keep the nucleas targeted at all times. It will bounce around the room, on corner at a time. Move to the next corner counterclockwise from it and get back from the ledge as far as you can without touching the spikes. Watch out for tentacles. Longshot it and draw it to you if you hit it, then pull out a sword and hit it. Don’t bother with a jump attack, it’s too quick. If you didn’t manage to capture it, just wait until the next time.
  3. Repeat steps 1 and 2. It should be dead after a few sucessful hits.

Phantom Shadow Beast: Bongo Bongo

Some name for a phantom shadow beast. The antechamber is a room with invisible platforms. Use the Eye of Truth and the hoover boots to get across to the boss door. Go through and drop down the pit.

Items to equip: Eye of Truth, Fairy Bow, and Sword

Meeting Bongo Bongo: He’s there as soon as you drop down. With this boss, you need to be aggressive. He starts banging on the drum floor and it will cause you to bounce. Make sure to stay on drum.

Fighting Bongo Bongo:

  1. Z-Target one of his hands and shoot it with an arrow to stun it. Then, quickly target the other hand and shoot it. If it starts to attack before you can shoot it, side jump out of the way. If you need ammo, he drops stuff when you shoot his hands.
  2. When both hands are stunned, turn on the Lens of Truth and look between his hands. Z-Target his eye and shoot it before he can run you over. If you hit him, you’ll stun him. Rush in and attack the eye with your sword.
  3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 and he’ll be finished in no time.

Sorceress Sisters: Twin Rova

These annoyances are in the Spirit Temple. The antechamber has an Iron Knuckle. Whoop ‘em and proceed to the Boss Room.

Items to equip: Mirror Shield and Sword

Meeting Twin Rova: Just climb up the brick area on one of the corners of the center platform and go to the center of the platform. This room has on large platform in the middle and four on the sides. If you ever fall off, you can climb up at the brick area again.

Fighting Twin Rova:

  1. Run immediately to one of the platforms on the outside. Never Z-Target in the first form.
  2. When one of them attacks, use your shield to reflect the attack at the other sister. Be careful when reflecting the ice attack. If it hits the ground you could damage yourself. If a sister is ever on top or really close to you, move to another platform on the outer edge.
  3. Once you’ve hit each one of them once, they’ll change into the second form. Stay on the center platform and keep her Z-Targeted at all times. They will fire either and ice shot or fire shot. Keep you shield up at all times except when attacking. You can tell which type of shot they will fire by looking at which arm is up. Absorb three of the same attacks on your shield and move closer and it will unleash the absorbed energy. If she fires another kind of magic that opposes the kind you are absorbing, quickly side jump out of the way until the attack clear, then move back to the middle.
  4. When you reflect the energy back, she’ll fall. Immediately rush in and attack. When she gets back up, move back to the middle and pull out your shield again.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until she is dead.

The King of Evil: Ganondorf

This is the next to last boss. He is in Ganon’s Tower. The antechamber is a room with pots on two sides, a pillar in the center and a door on on two sides. Go through the door that you didn’t come through and climb up to the top of the tower. Navi is not usable against this boss.

Items to equip: Fairy Bow, Light Arrow, and Sword

Meeting Ganondorf: Just walk into the room. After a short scene, the room will change, there is the center area, four stable corners, and the rest of the room is tiled with fall apart blocks.

Fighting Ganondorf:

  1. Immediately, go to on of the corners. He’ll knock of the center ring of fall apart blocks. If you ever fall off, the bottom has items in the pots such as arrows and magic jars. Climb up to the top immediately rush to a corner again.
  2. From a corner, draw out the fairy bow but don’t pull out an arrow. Ganondorf will do one of the following:
  1. Charge up for an energy attack. In that case, quickly put up the bow and pull out your sword. Reflect his attack back at him with you sword like you did with Phantom Ganon. When it hit’s home, quickly fire a light arrow to stun him, jump to the middle platform and attack with regular sword attacks 2 or 3 times, then rush back to a corner.
  2. If he does a black hole attack, hit him with a light arrow while he’s charging up, then rush in to attack. If you miss, pull out your shield and hope that you don’t sustain too much damage.
  1. When you hit him enough times, he’ll die. Sort of…

Ganon

No fancy name. No antechamber. Just Ganon.

Items to equip: Biggoron’s Sword if you have it, Master Sword if not, Bomb Bag and Light Arrows if you don’t have Biggoron’s Sword. I really suggest you get it if you don’t have it though.

Meeting Ganon: He’s in the center area of the arena. Just run over there.

Fighting Ganon:

  1. In his first form, if you have Biggoron’s Sword, Z-Target him and try to sidejump around his LEFT side. If you jump far enough, you’ll get a clear shot at his tail. Hit is tail hard, and keep repeating this step.
  2. If you don’t have Biggoron’s Sword, you can use bombs on him, a light arrow to his eye, all sorts of ways to bring this sucker down.
  3. In his second form, you’ll get your Master Sword back. Use it even if you have Biggoron’s Sword. Run away from him, then turn around and roll under his legs as he chases you. When you get behind him, spin the analog in 360 degrees and hit B to perform a quick spin attack, instead of charging up. Then, run away again and repeat. If you hit him enough with the spin attack, he’ll go down hard.
  4. In his final form, he just lyes there. I like to take my time here, go to the bathroom or grab a quick snack. You don’t have to but it adds a little bit of irony to the whole thing. When you’re ready, just run up and hit his face with your sword.
  5. That’ll finish him off. Congrats, if you beat him, you beat the game.
